KEEP CONTROL OF YOUR STASH

Export and deletion

Your household can keep a copy of its records and attachments. Review the export before removing anything you still need.

Save a household backup

  1. Sign in, open Settings and choose Prepare full backup.
  2. Wait for the records and attachments to finish. If Stash reports changes during the export, retry when household edits have finished.
  3. Download the JSON and ZIP. Check for missing attachments in the result and manifest before relying on the backup.

JSON includes places and their hierarchy, item metadata, movements, trips and checklists, reminders, loans, receipt references, member roles and activity. The ZIP also includes original photo and receipt bytes. Invitations, sign-in tokens and billing secrets are excluded.

Know the recovery options

CSV can be reviewed through Import CSV for basic item fields. Spreadsheet formula-like values have a protective apostrophe that may need review before re-import. JSON preserves the original records and relationships for reconstruction; Stash does not offer an automatic full restore or overwrite.

Browser ZIP exports are limited to 256 MB of attachments. Files that could not be included remain listed for individual download, with a 20 MB limit per file. A partial ZIP is labelled as partial. Downloaded files contain private household information, so keep them in a place you trust.

Leave or delete

Leaving a household removes your membership while the remaining members keep its records. Owners must transfer ownership before leaving a shared household. Deleting your account removes your sign-in and membership. A household where you are the last member, including its inventory and attachments, is deleted after you confirm.

Open Settings, find Your account and choose the action you intend. Read the confirmation carefully. Shared photos needed by remaining members stay with the household; unreferenced files are removed through the cleanup process.
